Category Parent
Term 05/11/2019

Current membership and responsibilities:

Andrew was appointed to the Governing Body in November 2015. Andrew’s wife Michelle is a member of GRAFT and they have two children who currently attend Gaddesden Row. Andrew is the Safeguarding Governor and also serves on the Resource Committee.

Governance Experience:

As a father of 2 children within the school. Andrew wanted to bring his skills learnt in his professional and personal life to his role as School Governor and to make a positive contribution to the children at Gaddesden Row’s education. Andrew aims to be a source of challenge and support to the school, whilst ensuring at all times that we monitor and evaluate the progress Gaddesden Row is making towards achieving its aims and objectives.

Professional Experience:

Working as a senior Manager within a multi-national telecoms copy. Andrew is used to managing teams, budgets and targets at a global level. Taking these skills into the Governor role, he believe he can help Gaddesden row by bringing groups together to achieve successful outcomes, within challenging timescales.

Personal interests:

A resident of nearby Piccotts End, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family. His love of all sports isn’t diminished by his lack of personal ability. Meaning his poor children are left with the pushy dad shouting them on from the side-lines at various weekly events including football, swimming, horse riding and cycling. When it all gets too much, Andrew can be found walking the dog around the beautiful countryside we have at our disposal.

Andrew works for BT Group within the network Security Practice.

Governance Experience:

Professional Experience:

In about 1996 under another regime Herts LEA attempted to close Gaddesden Row School and were rather surprised by the huge turn out at the public meeting. It seemed that Jasper’s contribution to this was valued and he subsequently worked with the group which successfully fought the closure. After several years of approaches he ran out of reasons not to join the governing body and joined in 2006. He takes a special interest in resources; money, physical resources and people resources. He states his greatest satisfaction with the role is aiding the continuous development of a small village school to the achievement of very high standards.

Personal interests:

Jasper Gilder has lived in Gaddesden Row since 1991 and runs a Training and Management Development Business. In 2004 he set up a second operation which runs tours of Spain and Portugal for owners of high performance sports cars.
