  • Length and Height
Pupils compare, measure, and describe length and height using practical resources and everyday language.

  • Mass and Volume
Children explore weight, capacity, and volume through hands-on activities, using non-standard and simple standard measures.

Children learn to identify animals, understand their basic needs for survival, and recognise simple similarities and differences.

PSHE

Keeping Safe: Children explore personal safety, identifying safe and unsafe situations, and asking for help. They also learn about boundaries, rules, and how to keep themselves and others safe.

Rights and Respect: Children explore fairness, kindness, and rules, and develop skills in listening, sharing, and showing respect to people and the world around them.

Art

Colour Creations: Children learn to identify and name colours, experiment with mixing primary colours to create new shades, and use colour to express ideas and feelings. They also develop basic skills in painting, drawing, and printing, while learning to talk about their own artwork and that of others.

History

Exploring Space: Pupils learn about significant events and people linked to space exploration. Children explore the history of space travel, including the first moon landing, and learn about important individuals such as astronauts. They develop an understanding of past and present, using simple timelines and historical language.

Music

Sounds are all around: Pupils explore everyday sounds and begin to understand how music is created. Children learn to listen carefully, identify and describe different sounds, and use their voices and simple instruments to create and perform sound patterns. They also begin to recognise how sounds can be loud or quiet, fast or slow, and how music can express ideas and feelings.

PE

Gymnastics: In gymnastics, pupils develop basic movement skills, including rolling, balancing, jumping, and travelling in different ways. Children learn to control their bodies, use different shapes and levels, and link movements together safely, building strength, coordination, and confidence.

Geography

Where I Live: Pupils learn about their local area and the wider world, helping them understand where they live. Children explore their home, school, and local environment, learn to identify human and physical features, and begin to use simple maps and directional language.

Design + Technology

Vehicles: Children learn to design, make, and evaluate simple vehicle models, using a range of materials. They develop skills in joining, shaping, and problem-solving, while thinking about how wheels, axles, and movement work.
